The weeping forsythia is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 5 meters (6 feet). It features woody fruit, vivid yellow blooms, and serrated leaves.
The Weeping Forsythia was initially mentioned in the first century CE in the Divine Husbandman's Classic (Shen'nong Bencaojing). An eighteenth-century treatment for infections includes weeping forsythia.
Native to China and Japan, weeping forsythia is cultivated for its bright yellow blossoms in gardens worldwide. The fruit is used in fall, just before it reaches full ripeness.
