Teasel is a perennial plant that can grow up to 2 meters tall with a spiky, ridged stem. It has hooked heads with lilac flowers and lance-shaped leaves.
In traditional medicine, the root of this plant was used to treat malignant sores, fistulae (abnormal passageways opening through the skin), and warts. The water that collects in the leaf was referred to by early herbalists as "Venus's Bath" and was believed to be highly beneficial for the eyes.
Teasel is a plant that grows in western Asia and Europe, on roadsides, wastelands, and banks. It is found in small quantities and its root is harvested in late summer.
