Sweet Annie is a plant with brilliant green, saw-toothed leaves widely used as a powerful antimalarial worldwide.
Sweet Annie was formerly thought of as just another species of Artemisia, albeit one utilized in traditional Chinese medicine to cure malaria. Sweet Annie and its main component, artemisinin, were shown to have potent antimalarial action and few adverse effects after significant investigation. The preferred medication in many severe cases of the sickness is still artemisinin, which quickly established itself as the primary treatment for severe malaria globally.
In Vietnam, Japan, China, Russia, and North America, Sweet Annie can be found growing on wastelands and grasslands. In eastern China, it is cultivated. In the spring, the herb is multiplied by seeds, and in the fall, the rootstock is divided. Before it flowers, in the summer, it is picked.
