Guggul

Commiphora mukul

Guggul is mentioned as being beneficial in treating obesity in early Ayurvedic writings. This prompted an investigation into the gum resin's potential therapeutic value for issues related to fat metabolism, such as elevated blood cholesterol levels.

Guggul grows in the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East, which has a dry, semi-arid desert setting.
