What To Expect

With hangover headache, many people feel really sick. The typical headache usually becomes noticeable 5-12 hours after alcohol intake and subsides after 72 hours at the latest. They occur in the forehead and both temples, are usually pulsating and intensify with physical activity. In addition, many experience a pronounced feeling of sickness with nausea, concentration problems, fatigue and dejection, diarrhea, stomach and muscle pain, trembling, increased tendency to sweat, and sensitivity to light and sound. However, symptoms vary greatly from person to person. In addition to these time-delayed symptoms, there is also the immediate alcohol-induced headache, which manifests itself within 3 hours of alcohol ingestion. In people with migraine, sometimes even a small amount is enough to trigger this headache. However, there may be other consequences after alcohol intoxication: for example, concentration and memory are reduced, as are visual perception and the sense of balance. Excessive alcohol consumption also leads to an increased risk of illness, accidents, and death from cardiovascular events, as well as increased sick leave and thus increased costs from lost work time.
